Film play review!

Summary of the plot line!

Our film is about a Pakistani-American 15-year-old named Charlize, who is from Boston. Charlize’s father was a Pakistani immigrant, and her mother was American. She had really big family problems because her dad wasn’t there for most of his life because he was working abroad.

The story starts with the showing of how lonely and neglected Charlize is by her friends. One day after her friends had dismissed her and said bye, she and her situation ship Derek had walked her home on bikes. Charlize entered her house, said hi to her mother and her dadi, and then went up to her room, where she was just doing her own thing until she got a notification, which was a friend request from a friend of mine named AI. Since she was bored and really lonely, she thought of this friend request as a new opportunity, thinking that it was someone from her school. Five seconds, after she has accepted the friend request, she gets a text saying “hi.” She replies with “who are you?” He then says “ur ai.” He continually repeats that, saying nothing else. She lets it go because she thought someone was messing around. Later on, while she’s doing her math problems, her ai texts her the answer to the problem.

Obviously, she was very shaken, and she dropped her phone and didn’t reply. Later on, while she’s trying on her clothes, she gets a text from her AI saying, “The outfits look nice.” She’s scared because she didn’t show him or tell him she was getting outfits. She then looks up at her camera, and she sees that it’s blinking! At this point, Charlize is scared and confused, so she stops talking to the AI for a little bit.

Then a few days later, Charlize gets into a fight with her parents. She started texting her AI, and he told her to go outside on a walk at 3 a.m. She went through this tunnel, where he kidnapped her. She then gets put into jail, where she tried to escape, but he found her and killed her!

Illustration of Main Character.

My Job in the film!

My part in the play was as the main character, Charlize. I played the main role, and I displayed my character really nicely and thoroughly. I feel like I brought out the cultural side of Charlize and how she goes against her grandma’s expectations by getting a boyfriend and stuff like that. I also displayed the reasons why Charlize would try to talk to this AI because she was lonely. She was just trying to find a way to hide from the real world, and I played that part, and I feel like I played it really nicely.

My groups process!

I feel like me and my group worked very nicely. We were all very collaborative, and we worked together very well on the making of the film. We all filmed the play together in an organized way. One of our members was not able to make it, but we improvised and filmed her part at school instead. We had a small problem with the editing of the film because one of our classmates edited it, but he did not try as hard as he could, which made us need to reedit it with a whole new person. In the end, the film came out really nice with the editing and all of that.

Problems we faced!

As I have stated, we did not face many challenges, but one of the really big challenges we faced was the first editing try because the editor did not edit properly, which caused us to reedit the whole thing. Another thing that was a bit challenging was the voice level because of the wind that was happening outside.

Evaluating the process.

I feel like our play deserves five stars. We had set the mood of the film really nicely, and the movement of the camera was absolutely amazing. In my opinion, the plot line was one of the best we have ever made in our class. It was really scary, and honestly, if we were to put ourselves out in the movie-making business, I feel like people would actually buy the pilot line because of the amazing idea. I feel like we all expressed our characters personalities very nicely, like the bully was expressed as rude and bossy and the girl was expressed as a loner, and we projected that amazingly! The quality of the filming was not that good, as the audio was very uneven and the vision was very blurry. We had a scene of suspense, and it was very scary and built up lots of tension. That was my favorite scene. Our directing was amazing, and we didn’t really have any problems with filming other than Ece’s phone dying.

What I would do to improve it next time?

I feel like next time we should add subtitles to our videos so they are more clear and the video is more understandable. One thing we can do to make it better next time is to balance the voice levels in the video so there’s more character speaking rather than lots of background noise.
